Riverside - Seasonal cheer for Lambeth locals
8 December 2009
Residents of a Lambeth estate enjoyed seasonal cheer and a new community Christmas tree, thanks to funding from landlord Riverside, which has 140 properties in the area.
Tenants of all ages from the Canterbury, Geoffrey and York Close estate, sang Christmas Carols and enjoyed a children’s performance of poems and songs from the 1940s – organised by the Close Tenant’s Association.
Wendy Mason is Riverside’s community initiatives officer. She said: “We want to encourage our vulnerable tenants to take part in more community events. Some of them have few family members close by, so it’s important that they make friends with their neighbours.” | |
Tenants are planning a community Carol Service around the Christmas tree in the lead up to the holidays.
