Riverside - Shared values lead to Community Champion Award
9 November 2009
Peel Road Community and Residents Association in partnership with social landlord Riverside and Sefton Equalities Partnership has won a Community Champions Award.
The partnership won the award for its Values Statement, which has been designed to encourage community spirit in the Peel Knowsley Housing Market Renewal (HMR) neighbourhood in Bootle, Merseyside.
The statement promotes social inclusion and celebrates diversity by clearly setting out the beliefs that everyone has the right to fair treatment regardless of who they are or what they have done.
The awards are funded through HMR’s Living Through Change programme and are organised by NewHeartlands and Sefton Council. | |
Councillor Ian Maher, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and NewHeartlands Board Member said: “The awards are a celebration of the achievements of residents living in Sefton’s HMR areas and the success of community projects in bringing local people together to create stronger, happier communities.
“The initiative has grown from the belief that HMR must not only address the bricks and mortar issues of areas that have suffered from housing market decline, but invest in community development to utilise and strengthen the passion, skills and resolve of residents who have invested their lives in the area.”
